A message from Brentwood Diocese' Marriage & Family Life Coordinator

Dear Friends,

Following the report stages this Bill will now reach its third reading in the House of Commons on the 20th and 21st May (this Monday). Click this link to see the details.

This is by no means a ‘done deal’ and there is still time to let your MP know how you feel. There is considerable feeling in both government and within the communities that this Bill is being rushed through with no mandate.

Marriage does matter and I have attached a copy of the leaflet we produced. Please do all you can to ensure that we give everyone the simple facts about this. In short, this proposal gives no additional rights that existing Civil Partnerships don’t already give. There is no great demand from society to push this legislation through with such haste. If we change the definition of marriage now we will change it forever.

Please continue to pray in support of those MP’s and leaders who continue to speak out against this legislation.

With ever best wish,

Phil
